Applications for the the Best Job in the World, an Island Caretaker on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef have opened and people are lining up for a six month paid travel vacation on this blogging job.
What is the job profile? Write a weekly blog and capture some entertaining moments for your video diary and photo gallerysharing experiences on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Tourism Queensland will organise a schedule of travel and events on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef, including a new luxury spa treatment at qualia on Hamilton Island, trying out new snorkelling gear on Heron Island, or bushwalking on Hinchinbrook Island.
Where do you stay? The Island Caretaker will live at Blue Pearl, a beautiful three-bedroom home on Hamilton Island featuring stunning views of the Whitsunday Islands, modern facilities, exquisite furnishings, state-of-the-art entertainment system. Enjoy the private plunge pool/spa, sun lounges, large balconies and the traditional Aussie barbeque. A golf buggy is parked to explore the island.
How to apply? Create a 60 seconds or less video in English, explaining why you are the best person for the job in an entertaining way, then complete a short online application form and upload the video. This will then be reviewed by Tourism Queensland representatives. 50 short-listed applicants will be required to submit additional information. Final 11 applicants (10 selected by Tourism Queensland, 1 Wild Card) will participate in an extensive interview selection process which will be held on a number of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Winner will be announced on 6th May 2009 and the six month employment tenure with Tourism Queensland commences 1st July 2009.
