Dell XPS One 27: 2012 Specs and Its 2026 Replacement
In May 2012 Dell launched the Dell XPS One 27, its largest all-in-one computer at the time and its answer to the 27-inch Apple iMac. Here is what the XPS One 27 offered back then, whether it is worth buying used today, and which Dell all-in-one replaces it in 2026.
Quick answer: The Dell XPS One 27 was a 2012 Windows 7 all-in-one PC with a 27-inch 2560×1440 screen and third-generation Intel Core quad-core processors. Dell no longer sells it. A used one is only worth it as a cheap secondary PC, because it is over a decade old. If you want a new 27-inch Dell all-in-one in 2026, look at the Dell 27 All-in-One, which runs Windows 11.

Why the XPS One 27 mattered
When I wrote about it in 2012, I felt it was high time Windows PC makers competed with the iMac at 27 inches. Apple had sold a 27-inch iMac and a 27-inch display for years, while Windows all-in-ones were mostly smaller. Dell had been building all-in-ones for a while, from the original Dell XPS One in 2007 to the Dell Studio One 19.
I liked the all-in-one idea: one power cord, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and everything built in behind the screen. That clutter-free design is exactly why all-in-ones are still popular for home offices and family rooms.
Should you buy a used Dell XPS One 27 in 2026?
Only if it is very cheap and you need a basic second PC. Keep these points in mind:
- Windows support: it shipped with Windows 7, and third-generation Intel Core processors are not on Microsoft’s supported list for Windows 11.
- Hard disk: the standard spinning hard drive is slow by today’s standards. If you buy one, swapping it for an SSD makes the biggest difference. Our old desktop PC upgrade guide explains the basics.
- The screen: the 2560×1440 panel was its best feature, so check it for dead pixels or backlight problems before you pay.
